Reaksmei (“Light”) artisans take coconut shells, a natural resource that might have otherwise been thrown away, and turn it into a thing of beauty, honoring God’s creation and his creativity. This elephant coconut key chain displays the creativity and hard work of these artisans.
Reaksmei (“enlighten” in Khmer) of Cambodia is a network of artisans making, and training others to make, handicrafts. Wives of pastors and church planters in Cambodia began creating the skirts and purses, and that group has grown by way of sewing classes taught to the neighborhood women. Artisans trained in watercolors are able to pursue educational opportunities that would never have been afforded them without Reaksmei.
